The first winning story of national league, 4-3 held at Braves Field. After facing loss for the three consecutive years National League got its first success because of the tremendous pitching by Dizzy Dean and Hubbell. The victory occurred due to the six scoreless innings combined by both of them. Augie Galan, Babe Herman, Frank Demaree and Gabby Hartnett of the Cubs were the excellent players from the same team, scored the four NL runs. In the first three innings Dean played, and gave up neither a hit nor a run. The next three innings was pitched by Hubbell and given only two hits and no runs. Lefty Grove of the Red Sox was started by the American League and he was drilled in for two runs by the National League. A young rookie right fielder named Joe DiMaggio was started by the American League. A twenty-one year old rookie starting in the All-Star Game went on to hit 358. DiMaggio was disappointed by his debut performance as he made two major mistakes at the plate. The game was a complete sellout; about 25,556 crowds attended the game with 15,000 seats remaining empty.
