The war had ended and the enthusiasm was seen in the 1946 All Star game. Game was played at Fenway Park where AL defeated the NL by 12-0. Ted Williams, Dom DiMaggio, Bobby Doerr, Rudy York, Hal Wagner, Dave Ferriss, Mickey Harris, and Johnny Pesky were the Eight Red Sox named to the 1946 All Star squad.
The game was a complete sellout, more seats were constructed. The match-up of Ted Williams and Rip Sewell was the highlight of this game. In the eighth inning it was the most memorable moment when they both were brought in face to face. Known for his "eephus" pitch, Sewell served Williams his eminent trademark. His first pitch to Ted was an eephus. In the beginning he made great efforts, driving in five runs, he went four-for-four. This game was more of festive occasion which had never seen by the players, and for several years many of them had never seen their league rivals. By this game the marquee players had revisited, and once again America was able to enjoy its national pastime.
