The triumph of the American League in the All Star Game held at Ebbets Field, Brooklyn . American League won the game by 11-7. It was the first occasion in baseball history when Black athletes took part in the All Star Game. The selection of black players in the All Star Game made the game historic one. Two years before democratization of Major League baseball had been done by Jackie Robinson. The National League players incorporated new players like Robinson, Roy Campanella and Don Newcombe and Larry Doby for the American League. This historic game totally belonged to Joe DiMaggio, he made single, double and three runs in the game. The first game to be played between African-American players made this game unforgettable. 1949 All-Star Game was made by a 29-year-old rookie Kazak; he hit .304 in only 326 at bats. Lou Boudreau manager of American League added DiMaggio to the squad. He was a non-contender in fan's balloting and was unable to play until June 28. With this game Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier and made the professional sport of baseball integrated.
