1956 ALL STAR GAME
 
 

Another spectacular show, the annual All Star game held at Griffith stadium in Washington , D.C. the National League defeated the American League by the score of 7-3. Two home runs given by Willie Mays and Stan Musial for the National League. For the American League, during the Triple Crown season Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams hit two home runs. The third baseman Ken Boyer was an outstanding player who gave three hits and three impressive plays in the field.

After 13 reverses, this was the 10th victory of the National League. In the sixth inning Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle for the American League had given home runs but the National League ran up a 5 to 0 lead. For the Nationals Willie Mays and Stan Musial both homered. Bob Friend was the winning pitcher, who started in opposition to the loser Billy Pierce. The total number of patrons attended the game was 28,843. The National League captured the 23rd annual All Star game.
