For the local New York fans, the second All-Star Game was played at Yankee stadium, New York . This game was again won by the National League with a score of 6-0. To cut the lead to 5-3 the American League came back swinging by making one in the sixth and two in the eighth. These two games were considered to be spectacular as the National League pitched a shutout and won both the games. The return of superstar Willie Mays made this game a special one. With a single, Willie Mays led off the game and in the third inning he homered against his favorite pitcher Whitey Ford. Eddie Mathews gave two home runs. In the seventh inning Stan Musial against Gerry Staley hit his sixth homer in the All Star Game. This game was the eighteenth and the final All Star appearance of Ted Williams. With a .304 average, four home runs, twelve runs batted in and ten runs scored he left the competition.
