The Washington Nationals are a Major League Baseball professional team which was established in 1969. The National are the member of the National League in the Eastern Division and currently play at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium. Before 2005 season, the Nationals played in Montreal, Quebec, Canada as the Montreal Expos. Since moving to Washington, the franchise has fared much better than most expected. This was the first team relocation in the Major League Baseball since 1972, when the Washington Senators moved to Texas and became Texas Rangers. The franchise has won one East Division title in 1981 as Montreal Expos. The National has been owned by Major League Baseball since 2002, although Major League Baseball promised to select a new owner by the end of 2005, however as the year drew to a close, no announcement was forthcoming. Some of the notable players who are currently playing for the National are Tony Armas, Jr., Gary Majewski, Felix Rodriguez, Marlon Anderson, Alfonso Soriano, Ryan Zimmerman, and Marlon Byrd.
